Time to saddle up, we arrange outriders trough the vineyard and the mountains. Enjoy inbetween a nice picknick or Wine tasting. A complete different way to explore the beautiful Hottentots Holland Mountain range! You can even saddle up from our Rondawel at our lodge. Quad riding
Up for a little more than 1 horsepower? Book an exciting drive to explore a larger area of the Mountain range by a 4x4 Quad.
Mountain biking / Knuren!
This is the Mekka of Mountain biking and we are in the middle of it. The beautiful Schapenberg Trail lies at our doorstep. There are 4 different trails, each at a different level. We can also arrange good quality MTB-rental. The trail is highly recommended by the KAB - Knuurders Association Kronenberg
Wake-boarding/ Water skiing / Diving
Only 10 minutes from the lodge lays the Blue Rock. Enjoy a day of water pleasure. They have a specially designed cable track for wake boarding and water skiing activities. We gladly provide you with more info. Surfing and Kite-surfing lessons are on offer at the Strand Beach lifesaving club, 10 minutes away from Gordon's Bay.
Flying
Let us book you a flight at Stellenbosch Flying Club. You can view Stellenbosch area and all its beauty from the sky. Or why don't fly yourself and taken an introductory flight. An unforgettable experience!
Paragliding
For those who want to find out what paragliding is all about you can book a two day course. For those of you who prefer a tandem flight this also belongs to the possibilities. Tandem Paragliding is safe, fun and easy. No previous experience is required. Before you take off you'll receive a short briefing from Wayne ore one of the other instructors. Beaches
The area has a number of world class white sandy beaches. Bikini Beach has been awarded blue flag status, and is safe and sheltered for swimming, water sports and sunbathing. You can also have some nice seafood afterwards in the local harbour. Also worth a visit are Clifton beach, Kogelbaai, Camps Bay, and Strand beach.
Hiking
The Helderberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West is 10 minutes drive away from our Lodge. Visit the information centre, the Guinea gift shop, or exhibitions; or have a leisurely picnic. There are hiking trails for hikers of all levels of experience. Children will also enjoy watching the lovely Bontebok, and tortoises that lazily mow the lawns of the picnic area. Also around the lodge you can do some serious hiking, ask us for some nice routes.
Shark Cage Diving
Want to see the great white in real life, this is your chance! Between the months of May through October is considered to be the best time to view the Great White Shark, although they are seen throughout the year. The best location is Gansbaai. If you don't have so much time, combine Gansbaai and Hermanus in one day. We gladly arrange a booking for you.
Whale watching
From July to November, check out Moby Dick and his friends play out in the bay. A truly spectacular display of nature! Best place to view is Hermanus, but if you're lucky you can see them from our pool deck. We have the binoculars ready for you.
Shopping
Don't want to go home empty handed? Visit the Somerset Mall, only 20 minutes away. For one of the biggest malls in the Western Cape you have to drive half an hour longer and visit the Canal Walk Mall in Cape Town.
Big 5 Game Park Aquila
At only 2,5 hour's drive from the lodge you can visit the Big 5 Game Reserve Aquila. We have visited this beautiful place ourselves, so if you want to have some more firsthand information, do not hesitate to ask us. We can also arrange your booking including a nice surprise.
